Transitional Pieces

Can you believe this is the first week of Spring?  On the northeast it seems like it is still the middle of Winter with about a foot of snow on the ground. Shortly the snow will melt, the temps will rise, and our winter coats will go away for awhile…. Which means it is time for some great transitional outfit ideas.

A few key pieces will make this time of influx chic and seamless. I find that it is best to layer up since it’s typically chilly in the morning, warm at lunch time, and back to chilly in the evening,  You want to have a great game plan so you won’t be caught off guard!  Always remember you may need to shed a layer at anytime and want to love your base layer since you maybe wearing it all day.

Blazer with a hoodie under = effortless chic
Layering a hoodie and blazer is always a good idea... it's two classic pieces that you probably have hanging in your closet.  Clients usually have a suit they no longer wear from an old corporate job or from when they were interviewing.  Depending on when the suit is from the blazer may need a few little tweaks from a tailor to make it look current.... throw a hoodie under it and it will look like you just bought it!

Pair a cozy sweater with a Spring skirt
I love mixing my metaphors.. wearing camo pants with a ruffle top, a ripped up shirt with impeccably tailored pants, or a blazer with distressed jeans.  Another variation I love is a summer inspired skirt ( a floral or denim skirt) with a cozy sweater.  This look also helps you bridge the gap between seasons while getting a few extra wearings out of your sweaters and allowing you wear skirts a little earlier than you might have.

HELLO Moto
A leather moto jacket is one of those go to pieces I couldn’t live without.  It can elevate a jeans & tee or dress down a fancy dress.  It is probably one of the most suggested items I bring up to my clients.
